Mike Roberts |
1996 |
Co-founding member. Manager and Captain. Has surrendered the lead-off spot to move to the middle-lower order. One of the oldest but still fast and likes agressive base running with slides aplenty. Primarily a dyed in the wool OF but has been known to show up at 3rd or SS (God forbid).

|
Colm Hennessey |
1996 |
Colm is our resident suicidal runner. Hits strong and runs fast but think carefully about his advice if he's a base coach and you are on the way into 3rd. Returned to play in 2004 after missing all of 2003 season with injury. Legs may not carry him as fast as they once did but this information has not made it to his brain yet and he is still an agressive runner, although some of the old speed has returned for 2005. Plays OF.
|
Alan Coates |
1999 |
Alan is one of the stronger hitters. From the beginning a natural outfielder with a good eye for the flight of the ball. Not the fastest runner and turns like a supertanker but is a good baserunner who makes more bases than he loses. One of the teams coaching staff. Bats middle order. Plays OF.
|
Steve Lohrenz |
2000 |
Steve first played for us in 2000. Came to a blitz, met his wife-to-be and went back to the US. I was very happy to welcome him back in 2004 and happier still that he is still with us for 2005. A good allrounder and probably our most tactical hitter. Good wheels and a nimble SS. Caused Steve T some concern in relation to the SS spot but it has worked out well. Plays SS and OF.
|
Mary O'Grady |
2001 |
Mary is a solid player with a great on-base record and is one of our more dependable female hitters. She is a reliable fielder who rarely lets one past. Mary now "owns" 2nd base. Bats strong at number 2 in the order. Plays 2nd and sometimes 3rd or OF.
|
Paddy Meehen |
2002 |
Paddy joined us towards the end of 2002 on a transfer from the terminally ill Fallen Angels where he had played for a couple of seasons. A very welcome addition to our thin pitching staff after the loss of our main pitcher in 2002 collapsed our season. Paddy hits well and runs very fast and clever. Plays P, and sometimes OF or 1st.
|
Michael Tichband |
2003 |
An Aussie who is not unfamiliar with the sport notwithstanding that he also plays that other bat and ball game,.... Cricket. The first "Michael" other than myself in Packers' history. Invaluable big hitting lefty. Official warm-up guru. Has made 1B his home. Doesn't like the rain. Just married (July 2005) and hasn't played yet this season.

|
Stephen Ralph |
2003 |
Stephen is a versatile allrounder. He assumed the role of 2nd Pitcher in 2004 and now alternates with Paddy. Comfortable with the glove and plays well at 1st when not pitching. Instant softball anorack and welcome addition to management team. Another member of the coaching triumverate. Bats middle to bottom, or wherever he is needed. Also plays OF.

|
Belinda Conti |
2003 |
Our second Aussie and not connected in any way to the other one other than being a fellow Antipodean. Belinda has played a lot of Softball and we nearly have the last of those Fastpitch rules out of her system. Third member of the coaching triumverate. Plays 3B and is trying to convert her fastpich pitching to slowpitch. Unfortunately, work committments have almost eliminated her availabiltiy in 2005.
|
Steven Trundle |
2003 |
An eager beaver and management co-opt. Hits well and has worked hard at hitting clever aswell as strong. Good on base percentage and strong base runner. Great defensive ability and easily moved from 3rd to SS. Was somewhat peeved when Steve L showed up, but they manage to share the SS spot well.
|
Shane Lombard |
2003 |
A tall lad who can really smack the ball. A better grasp of the rules will improve him and he makes a fine middle order bat. Limited availabilty in 2003 and 2004, initial hopes for 2005 faded as other committments and injuries have restricted Shane's availability. This is unfortunate as game-time will improve his game significantly. A definite OF.
|
Oonagh Casey |
2003 |
Memo to self : 'Not a guy called Donagh'. A good lefty hitter whose on base percentage is puzzling low, but improving. Plays OF but is a good option at 2nd when Mary is unavailable or 3rd.
|
Sile Allen |
2004 |
Sile is a sportsperson and it shows. A hockey goalie, she really wants to contribute even though she is new to the game. A good batter and a solid fielder, devoloping into a super softballer and can surprise many a fielder. Plays well at 3rd. Due to other committments, Sile will not be available much in 2005 and hasn't yet played a game (as of July), but we hope to see her before the end.
|
Marco Nuti |
2005 |
An Italian and our first continental European. Marco played a little with the Diamond Dogs and their training obviously had its effect. A mid-power male batter, Marco is a fast runner who will make bases.
|
Tara Larsen |
2005 |
Our second Statesider, though the accent isn't so strong. Tara played Softball back in the US when she was younger. The skills and knowledge will have to be dusted off but the experience, even if long past, is obvious as she is comfortable with the glove. Batting has improved as the season progresses and she has made 1st base her own. Now that she is getting on base a lot, we'll need to improve the sprinting.
|
Susan Collins |
2005 |
Completely new to the game this season. Promising hitter and not afraid of the ball. Has stepped in to 2nd to cover injury and played well there. Needs to move to the ball more in the outfield but experience will improve this.
|
Joanne Collins |
2005 |
Sister to Susan and also completely new to the game. A lefty who hits well. Needs to chase the ball more aggressively in the outfield but again, experience will help.
|
Orla Larkin |
2005 |
Another acquisition (along with the Collins sisters) triggered by the "Larsen" deal. Slight in stature, Orla can hit well and is one of the faster girls. Chases the ball well in the outfield.
|
Cara Kelehen |
2005 |
A bit of a sports-aholic, Cara engages in many other sports and it shows. Good competitive player who runs, catches and throws well. Batting is good and is improving as the experience accrues. Can play infield or outfield and is one of the stronger throwing girls, well capable of a strong throw from 3rd to 1st.
|
Kevin McGrath |
2005 |
Late signing in 2005 and another Larsen related signing. Looks like he will be a strong batter. Also showing good defensive skills which should make him a solid player. Needs to get some decent boots though.
