Why do I do this research?

This is always the first question that the Nobel Physicist Steven Chu (1997) asks himself when he gets up in the morning.

I try to answer the same question as well. Here I list all the research fields I have ever studied, or will spend more time to explore in the near future. Please have a look and give me some suggestions. Maybe you have a better answer to this question.
