:

To train teachers of the technical and Vocational education and training institutes of industry, through long-term and short-term courses;

To foster and promote research in

• improving classroom and laboratory techniques;
• developing and understanding of teaching-learning process;
• all aspects of curriculum development and testing;

To prepare and supply wherever necessary, teaching aids, instructional materials including ETVs and CAIs to technical institutes, vocational schools and industrial training organisations;

To associate the institute with State Councils and other academic bodies on technical education in the region regarding curriculum development, admission procedures and examination reforms;

To take initiative in improving polytechnic education;

To act as a centre for disseminating information to all agencies interested in technical education;

To collaborate with the Industries in the region in formulating training programmes of mutual interest and

To collaborate with institutes or organisations in India and abroad that have similar objectives and functions.
