J.E. Crawford

Rating : 9/10

Course(1997) : 198-204A : Planets, Stars and Galaxies

COMMENTS

"Prof. Crawford is the most 'down to earth' teacher I've ever had. Even if he masters physics, he will explain theories in a way that even the 'math-impaired' can understand. He gladly answers student's questions and always bears a smile (which is nice, especially on friday afternoons). Although somewhat monotonous, he teaches a subject he obviously loves which makes this tiny drawback disappear. An overall great teacher."

Michael Free

Rating : 8.5/10

Course(1998) : 210-211B : The Art of Listening

COMMENTS

"Michael's humour will guide you through a marvelous trip in music history. Although somewhat monotonous, he can easily holds your attention with his choice of music selections and anecdotes. He presents his theories in a simple manner enabling his material to become accessible to everyone. He's open to discussion and encourages class participation during his lectures (i.e. he WILL make the class sing). Michael's not a tough marker but he does have specific demands. One thing he will not tolerate is plagiarism (he will report any plagiarism to all university and departemental authorities)."

Berkeley Kaite

Rating : 6/10

Course(1997-98) : 110-275D : Introduction to Cultural Studies

COMMENTS

"Berkeley knows her stuff but unfortunately is very monotonous. She is open to student discussion and is always willing to advise students on their work. She is a hard marker. The trick is to have her read over your papers (this is how I got a 10/10 paper...it's worth the effort)."

Trevor Ponech

Rating : 8/10

Course(1997) : 110-279A : Introduction to Film as Art
Course(1998) : 110-280B : Introduction to Film as Mass Media

COMMENTS

"Prof. Ponech's greatest strength is his humour. I admit, I do enjoy a few laughs once in a while. Most of his lectures were clear but some of them were confusing. His major problem in 110-279A and 110-280B was that he ignored the fact that many students in the class were movie buffs and did not join only to get easy marks. This is why he could seem detached at times. His exams (in the two courses mentioned above) are very easy and are all multiple choice."

Bryan Trehearne

Rating : 9/10

Course(1997) : 110-228A : Canadian Literature I

COMMENTS

"A very organized teacher. His goals are clear and he achieves them quickly and efficiently. He's a tough but just marker. His tight lectures are clear and precise. It's very easy to meet with him after class and he gladly answers any question you may have."
