LIMP BIZKIT TO HEADLINE MONTH-LONG FREE TOUR

The announcement came April 24. Napster, the controversial music trading company will be footing the bill to send Limp Bizkit and Cypress Hill out on a month-long tour. The catch is, tickets will be free. The tour is currently scheduled to begin July 4 in Chicago and should travel to at least 8 other major U.S. cities. The expected cost of the journey: $1.8 million.

The "Back to Basics Tour" as it is tentaively known will run through August 6 and will most likely be held in smaller venues that hold around 5,000 fans. Frontman Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit apoke at an afternoon press conference saying the band is looking forward to returning to smaller, more personal shows.

No specific dates are yet confirmed. Tickets will not be given out for the shows but will only be availible on a first-come first-serve basis, although the bands are expected to play multiple shows in each city.

Neither Limp Bizkit nor Cypress Hill will be paid for the tour. All funding from Napster will go towards covering tour expenses.



RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS CONTINUE TO TOUR

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers are gearing up for the fifth leg of their tour; scheduled to begin on July 30. Replacing the Foo Fighters will be fellow Los Angeles band Fishbone. Also scheduled to be on the bill is Stone Temple Pilots. A sixth leg of the tour will begin on September 1 with STP remaining on the ticket and an as yet unnamed band filling in for Fishbone.
