HELLO!!!

I'm Imelda Pratekto. I grew up in Indonesia but has been living in USA since I was 17 yrs old. I now live in the sunny California, in San Jose -- the Silicon Valley to be exact. I currently work for the Big Blue, IBM; but always welcome a better opportunity. So...if anybody has an job opening in my area of expertise, please contact me. You could view my qualifications on my resume.

Now let me tell you where I've been since I moved to the US. As it so happens, I moved several times in the period of 7 yrs before finally settling down (I hope...) in California. First, I lived in Tucson, Arizona. For anyone who doesn't know, it is a very hot (literaly) state. Well, it's a desert actually. The temperature in the summer can get to 110 deg. Fahrenheit. The winter is nice, though, not so cold; but you could rarely have a white Christmas since it hardly snows there.

Tucson itself is a pretty nice and quiet city to live. I went to the University of Arizona when I was there. The University is pretty cool and quite big. If I'm not mistaken, they have about 36,000 students when I was there. U of A's Business School, Astronomy and the Electrical Engineering are among the best deparments in the nation. For all of you sport fans, U of A's basketball team, Wildcat, is quite well known indeed.

For recreation, there are mountains not far from Tucson (1-3 hrs drive). The drive to the mountains is a treat. You could see Cactus everywhere...very huge ones! There is also a big wildlife museum and Old Tucson that you could visit

From Tucon, I moved to the twin cities of Minneapolis - St. Paul, Minnesota. Yup, from the desert moved to the ice pole. I went to the University of Minnesota. U of M is best known for its Chemical Engineering department. U of M is a huge and excellent school. It has about 60,000 students.

For recreation, there is of course the Mall of America, the biggest shopping mall in the US. For sightseeing, there are a lot of lakes and hiking grounds. Minneapolis is quite a nice place to stay if you don't mind the cold weather. During the winter time, it can get as cold as -60 deg. Fahrenheit! And sometimes it still snows in May.....

From Minneapolis, I moved to Charlotte, NC. It's way down near Florida. I went to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). UNCC is not a big school, only about 20,000 student. But, it sure is growing.

Charlotte is also known as Queen City. The city is not big but it is quite beautiful...lots of green trees. And, there are lots of places nearby for recreation. Mountains? Well, you'll have a treat driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Beaches? Myrtle Beach is only 4 hours away if you drive.

From Charlotte, I moved to San Jose, California where I am living currently. Well, the weather here is nice, and there are lots and lots of things to do around here. Not to mention, lots of excellent restaurants, especially the ones serving Asian foods. Except for the rather high cost of living, I am happy here. San Jose is also called the Silicon Valley. Many high technology companies are here. If you are a programmer or doing anything that involves computers, it is quite easy to find a good job here. There are lots of interesting nearby cities that are nice to visit. San Francisco is only an hour away. If you like beaches, Santa Cruz and Monterey is only an hour away South from San Jose. Then, if you have plenty of time to spend, you could always go to Los Angeles (about 400 miles away). Disneyland, Universal Studio, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive are just some places you could visit nearby LA. Oh, these are just some of the things that are fun to do around here.... Anyway, I hope you had fun browsing around my homepage and please come and visit me again real soon....
