Hi. This is Mark Yep. My Chinese name is Yap Fook Sei (Ye Fu Shi in Mandarin). Yes, you've guessed right. I am Hakka!
Unfortunately, I am a Hakka person with little knowledge about my forefathers. I was born in Lucknow, India and am presently in Hamilton, Canada. On September 14, 2003, my wife, Ivy, and I got married. I should mention that Ivy is Hakka as well! She is from Huizhou, Guangdong and we met at McMaster University where we were both in the same program. I have learned a lot of things about Hakka and Chinese culture from her and will write about it when I get a chance.
In April this year, I graduated with an undegraduate degree in the Electrical Engineering and Management program from McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada.
Currently, I am working full-time for Incuity Software Inc., a software development firm in Burlington, Canada. I am learning a lot and quite frankly, I am having a fantastic time! The company has its head-office in Mission Viejo, California. Occasionally, I travel to the U.S. to train and work with distributors and customers.
I hope I am able to maintain this web site which I started about six years ago. My knowledge about the Hakka people has grown and my appreciation has deepened. It is indeed very rewarding when someone posts a comment with their story and background. Please do consider signing the guest book!!! For those of you who did, a real BIG thanks.
