" 5 Days Of Rest "

20 July 1954
The Trophee de Monaco brought me to the sun over fludded Riviera. Maybe you think after such a hard rally anyone would need 5 days of rest, but nothing is less true. Meeting the Rivierasun, no tyreness excists. Only 15 days later I needed these obligated days of rest.
It is very easy to enter the italian rallies, till the last moment it is possible to inscript. Preinscription is not even allowed. I was near and wanted to participate in the "9th Ralley Internazionale "Masonnina dei Centauri" in Castellazzo-BÚmida, better said the "Rally of Alessandria". On my way to it I met a Lambretta-rider from Monaco. Going to the same event, we travelled together.
Later I was happy not to be alone, because in the night all lights of my bike went of. I could not see anything, so I had to stay near the red light of the Lambretta. But also he had not much light. This was the reason why he, in an onexpected curve of a railroad-passing, could pass two piles but had to mount the third one, including his bike.
