Restless spirit, trapped in worldly flesh Chained to the constraints of everyday life, I see the leaves blowing in the wind Oh, how I long to be those leaves and Know that freedom! How I envy them! Oh, how I long to be that wind To dash along a riverbank on a warm summer day To sail the frozen plains of a barren winterland To feel the ocean churning, to bask within the spray To whisk along the place where the ocean meets the sand. The golden sun shows itself, Escaping a bank of clouds. My restless spirit envies it Flying across the sky, warming with its touch. I will never know that blessed freedom. My spirit seems doomed to wander forever in the night Knowing no rest, seeing no friendly face. Unhappy spirit, why do you fret? I fret because I am trapped, Cold, and alone.
