News:
- Some names familiar to local fans of tomes and tunes can be found in Yankee
Magazine's July/August issue, just hitting the stand this week.
The cover touts the Music Made in New England section, which features
"Aerosmith to Polka, Tanglewood to the Blues." Writers include Bondsville
novelist Suzanne Strempek Shea, who grew up in Three Rivers, within hearing
distance of Pulaski Park, AKA "The Polka Capital of New England."
Fittingly, she was assigned a feature on 39-year-old Enfield native Gary
Sredzinski, who since 1987 has offered his Polka Party program Saturdays
from 9 to 11 a.m. on the University of New Hampshire's Bill Morrissey.
Newsstand copies of this special Yankee issue include a 16-track CD. Two of
the numbers are from Morrissey's recently released Just Before We Lost the
War.
- Free autographed bookplates for your copy of
each of Ms. Strempek Shea's novels may be obtained by
sending a SASE to Suzanne at PO Box 468,
Thorndike, MA 01079. Please include the name
of the person to whom you'd like the
bookplate inscribed.
