The story identifies the mandate. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." Righteous living is truth applied to every fixture of life, from the nuts and bolts to the towers and terraces. Jesus’ prayer for believers is: "Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth" (Jn. 17:17). His plan for believers is that they incarnate this truth in making disciples of all nations. His provision for them is the enduring presence of the omniscient and omnipotent Trinity in them and with them. Only God, and his truth through believers (Rom. 10:13-14) can set a person free, free to live and show others how to live.
