A Message from Our Principal, Frank Wall

Welcome to Ellenboro Elementary School. We are situated in the beautiful foothills of Western North Carolina. Ellenboro is a small town surrounded by farms and rolling countryside. The Ellenboro community is located on Highway 74, six miles east of Forest City, North Carolina.

Our school has changed significantly in the last few years. We are now a K-5 school with an enrollment of 660+ students. We had previously been a K-8 school with an enrollment of 770 students. This change was necessary because of the creation of a new middle school in our school district.

Our students are great. The are bright-eyed, intelligent, and as well-behaved as children anywhere. Our faculty and parents think they are even better than that. Because our school district is so large our students come from many communities. Bostic, Hollis, Hopwell, Concord, and Washburn are some of the communities represented by our students. Our enrollment used to be very stable in numbers and composition, but in recent years the school has experienced a shift in its clientele. We have many families who moved in and out of our school district. Our transfers in and out average 125 students each year.

Our focus at Ellenboro is always our children. However, we have concentrated on several areas during the past three years. These areas include improving math scores, expanding technology, and character development.

Again, welcome. If you want to know more about a school where "learning for the future makes a happy tiger roar" read on!
