About Ellenboro School

Ellenboro School is a K-5 elementary school of 600+ students. We are located in the rural community of Ellenboro, which is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina about halfway between Asheville and Charlotte.
At Ellenboro we believe all children can learn. We try to bring to our students the best of ourselves so that they may have the skills, the confidence and the will to make a bright future for themselves.

Ellenboro School started as a community school serving first through twelfth grades. In 1962 we lost our high school students to the newly consolidated East Rutherford High. In 1995 we became a K-5 elementary as our sixth through eighth grade students were moved to East Rutherford Middle School. Our facility is made up of four buildings: The main building itself, most of which was constructed in 1924 and added onto by the WPA in the 40s, houses our kindergarten through third grades, the principal's offices, the media center and auditorium. Our fourth and fifth grades are located in the newest addition, a separate building, completed in 1985. We also have a cafeteria and the Davis gymnasium.
