Wed. July 14, 2004 I sit here, a twenty-one year old, someone who is destined to be something. I am determined to be someone who wants nothing more to make people happy, but at the same time, likes to make people angry. I like to have a strangehold upon people's emotions, and challenge them to go against what I do. What better way to accomplish this feat, than to do something I've dreamt about since I was eight? Why not become a professional wrestler? I've been a wrestling fan for 14 years now. I know when I was younger, and did not understand the logics of the sport, I was big into characters, I loved guys like the Ultimate Warrior, the Macho Man, The Hulkster, Sting... they all appealed to me as a kid. I think when I hit sixteen, I finally put two and two together. I stopped saying "Wow, Sting rules." What I was saying was "Sting and Ric Flair, they're top notch performers. They can surely keep fans on the edge of their seats. I want to do that!" When I was eighteen, my brother, myself, and two friends began going to a local New England company's shows. By the second show, we offered to work ring crew for free. They probably thought we'd be here and there once in a while, and said "Why the hell not?", right? Well, unbeknownst to them, we stuck it out, going to nearly every show they put on for the next two years. That was from 2000 through 2002. When I got a fulltime job, I couldn't make it to a lot of those shows anymore, but my brother and friend stepped up. But we all went from free workers, just there for fun, to all-the-timers. They called us up, to tell us about shows. We even had chances to drive some talent around here and there. Hell, working our second show, we were late because Bill Alfonso asked us to do security for his and Tommy Dreamer's autograph session in Attleboro, MA. We then got to drive Fonzie to Rockland, MA for the show. That was a big first for me, having a pro wrestling manager in my front seat, and getting to shoot the shit with him. He treated us like we were one of the boys, it ruled. I have a friend who just started getting booked by South Coast Championship Wrestling. I went and watched his tryouts for their school in January. I grew jealous slightly, and wished I was doing it, but I didn't. I chickened out because I'm not in the best shape currently, nor was I then. But after some heavy coaxing, I'm going to the open tryouts on July 31st. I'm determined to not let them tell me no. They've got guys in worse physical condition than me on the YPW roster, plus I am dying to work on that, my cardio, and all the good stuff necessary to become a pro wrestler.
So my next update, due on August 1, 2004, will document my tryout, and the days leading up to it. Until then...
