Stage 2

Finally! I can't believe its finally done!

Not many pics but they are all i need to include for you too see the improvements.

Here's a small run-down of what i did.

I ordered a reconditioned 2.0 and requested the bottom end have 060' oversize pistons and be fully balanced. the rest of the motor remains standard for now due to price restrictions. I managed to get a pair of 45mm DLHA Dellorto carburettors with manifold so i bolted them to it instead of a factory carb. i have a mild cam on the way to suit the carbs more than the standard grind. A set of Coby 4-2-1 Exhaust headers take care of the spent gases.

The installation procedure was fairly straightforward but required a few mods such as cutting off the existing gearbox brackets and welding them further back and making some adaptor blocks to let the gearbox sit at the right height. The gearstick hole was cut out and moved back 2 inches as well. A sierra 1-piece tailshaft was shortened and balanced. Along with the RS2000 engine mounts i managed to source it all bolted in nicely. The wiring and all was changed to suit and the fuel line run down the other side of the car.

The rest of the car remains as it was at stage 1 apart from the following.

The seat brackets were modified to sit the seats a further 4-inches back. A 12" subwoofer and 4-ch amplifier were added to the audio system and the rear brakes were upgraded from 8" too 9" drums.

As you can see the 2.0 looks much finer in the engine bay and i'm happy with the result. In the future i will treat the head to a port/polish and fit a wilder cam but i'm not going race-spec.

The esky is now quick enuff to see off a few more cars at the lights :)

Who knows what future plans are in store for stage 3 but you can be sure i'll include em here when i come up with the idea and the cash!

Thanks for viewing my site and if you have any questions regarding your own esky build dont hesistate to e-mail me!
