After receiving a gold panning demonstration from one of the staff, try your gold panning skills at one of our panning tubs, or go down to the Monashee Creek where the Chinese mined for gold over one hundred years ago. Some of their original means of mining are still visible today. Panning enthusiasts are still finding gold nuggets to make into jewelry or keep as momentos.
Historic tours of the Chinese diggings, old mining equipment and mining sites are available on our Monashee Stage Bus. In addition, the Gold Panner is in close proximity to a 9- hole golf course and many lakes offering fishing , canoeing, and trail riding.
The B.C. Open Gold Panning Championship, held each May long weekend
at the campground, draws competitors and spectators from Canada,
U.S. and even Europe. The categories are :youth, novice, intermediate and
expert.
