Virginiatown/Kearns, Northeastern Ontario, Canada

My interests are: Skiing, cycling, fishing, snowmobiling, and tinkering.

Virginiatown/Kearns (link to Vtown homepage) is a small gold mining town located three miles from the Quebec/Ontario border along Highway #66 which is the only way to get here, unless you travel by snowmobile in which case there are a few trails you can follow. (link to map)

Virginiatown is built along the shore of Larder Lake, from which point you could get in a canoe and paddle to the Larder River, then towards Lake Temiscaming, then down the Ottawa River and all the way to the St. Lawrence Seaway. There are of course quite a few dams and rapids that you would have to negotiate or portage, but you could eventually make it as far as you want.

Kikland Lake, Ontario, is 25 miles (40KM) to the west and Rouyn-Noranda, Québec, is 25 miles (40KM) to the east.
