It has just occurred to me that I have not got any photos of the
trips when it
has lashed it down with rain, frozen the wotsits off brass
monkeys and everyones
failed to catch a fish.
I am the Secretary of the
Athersley Social W.M.C. Deep Sea Angling Section. There are 12
members in the section and we subsidise our costs by running a
weekly pool, raffle and tote.
We fish out of Bridlington onboard the "Mirage II"
skippered by Dave Screeton, Whitby onboard "Sea Trek
T.N.G." skippered by Stu Johnson, and Conway in North Wales
onboard the "Huntress II" skippered by Eddie Ward. Our
catches from Whitby and Bridlington consist mainly of cod, ling
and the occasional haddock and whiting.
Fishing out of Conway in North Wales we have caught conger,
pollack, thornback ray, tope and various species of dogfish.
Club members Mitch, Jack, Mick, Golly and Arthur waiting to board the boat at Bridlington.
Every year the section has an outing. This year we have been to Poole in Dorset and fished for five days aboard the "Mistress Linda" skippered by Phil Higgins. The previous two years venue was Weymouth fishing with Chris Tett aboard his boat "Peace and Plenty". Other Ports we have visited are Newhaven, Deal, Torquay, Brixham, Dartmouth, Mevagissey and Penzance. We have also been to Guernsey twice and the Isles of Scilly.
