Welcome to my little hideaway.

I have an Extra Class Ham License, callsign
AA6LJ and was very active on 20 meters, 2 meter SSB and
70 centimeter SSB. My station, when it was up, consisted of a
Yaesu FT-101 with external VFO and Heathkit receiver for split
frequency / split band operation, Yaesu 6 meter transverter, FT-290R
2 meter all-mode, Icom 220 Mc HT, Yaesu 440FM, a 432 Mc transverter,
and several Vibroplex "bugs". I also have a working
Viking Ranger and a working Hallicrafters S-36C. Some day I hope
to put a tower up, so I can put up some beams and stretch some
wire. I also like to sometimes design and build my own beam antennas.
I may post a few in the near future.
One of my big interests is photography.
I have a Canon AE-1,
Canon FTb
(with FT Booster), Yashica
Electro 35 rangefinder, Kodak Pony 135, Minolta Hi-Matic AF2-MD
35mm point and shoot, and Yashica T2 35mm point and shoot.
I have a Agfa B2 Speedex 6x6 format folder, a Ansco
Viking 6 x 9, and a pre-war Agfa
Jsorette 6x4.5 (plus 6x6). I have a Yashica
12 6x6 TLR with the Sun wide-angle
auxiliary lens pair and the +1 closeup diopter set. In the past
I had a Canon TLb, Yashica Minister-D, and a Yashica MAT124G.
I wish I had kept the MAT, since they are getting expensive now.
For large format 4x5 I have a Calumet
C400 view camera with a 135mm f4.7
Wollensak Raptar in a Rapax shutter, 105 and 127 Rodenstock Ysarons, and 190mm Raptar. For 8x10 I use an Improved Seneca 8x10 with a 12 inch (300mm) Kodak Commercial Ektar. My flashes are Vivitar 285HV,
Vivitar 2000 and Vivitar 252. I am a big believer in handheld
meters especially when high contrast or backlighting could be
a problem, and am using several meters... a Gossen Scout 2, Gossen Super Pilot, Weston Master II, Soligor Spotmeter and Tundra D3B. Just for fun, I got
a Gossen Sixticolor. They (the meters) all work well, and after
several "test" rolls of slide film, I believe them to
be accurate. I have a Vivitar flash meter, Currently, my 35mm
lenses consist of a Canon 28mm f2.8 wide, 35-70mm f3.5 macro zoom,
Canon 50mm f1.8, Canon FL 135mm F3.5 tele, Canon 70-210 f4 zoom,
Quantary 400mm f6.3 tele, Sakar 500mm f8 cat (mirror) tele, Canon
Bellows FL, and a 2X teleconverter. These cover the sort of shooting
most people will do, without breaking the bank. The nice thing
about the FD lens system is the variety and the fact that they
have become so cheap (relatively speaking). For sheer variety
in 35 mm, only Nikon can compare. To finish up, there is an Astra
Umax 610P flatbed scanner and a Nishika N8000 3D camera.
Another interest of mine is music,
and I have a Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar and Carvin amplifier.
At one time I also had a Fender Stratocaster and Gretsch Chet
Atkins Country Gentleman, all are excellent.
In my spare time, I work for the government
on the International Space Station. To see what it will
look like, try my links to NASA. I share a house with Dizzy, Lady
D, Sir Wart and Rifraf, and we have two dogs (Bais, Chief) and
three cats (Agamemnon - Aggie for short - and Midnight and Godzill)
and 5 chickens.
Wolves are among the most
social and intelligent wild creatures we know. No longer are they
the "bogey man" of cheesy cartoons and monster movies.
Too late, we are finally coming to appreciate them for what they
are .... things of power, grace and beauty. Click on the wolf

One of my favorite places
to fish is Big Bear. Until I moved out to California, I had never
tried trout fishing, and hooking a nice rainbow on 4 pound ultralight
or a flyrod is a great thrill. Sierra Gold works well, and last
year (1999) I had very good results with a 1/8 ounce white jig
also. A fishing partner had good luck with a tiny gold spinner.
There are also bass, catfish and crappies to be had there. Click

I took in the spring of 1999. These were taken with an AE-1 and
70-210 zoom (only lens I had with me at the time).
