Teri's Condo Overlooking Lake Union

LAKE UNION, SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

In the fall of 1997, Teri started vocational rehabilitation, attending , worldwide technical learning centers. Her focus was in the career objective of specializing in computer internet publishing technology, web design and graphics, her diversified talents in all arenas of advertising and marketing for the past twenty five years would be a valuable asset to her desired objective. Not overlooking her established artistic design presence, her computer savvy can nw be found on the world wide web.

Her schoolastic itenerary was transferred from Portland, Oregon to Sacramento, California in springtime of 1998 to complete her schooling.

During the time of her schooling, the position of Sportsman's Expo Creative Director Butte County Fair Sportsman's Expowas offered to Teri. Directing and working with the many dedicated volunteer's from throughout the Butte County area, the 1998 Expo was one that will never be forgotten. The final results were what was an authentic and aesthetically detailed exhibition was successfully achieved through the "mind's eye" of artistic direction and unsurpassed creative energy of Teri Renee. Every continent was recreated with full, in action mounts...from North American ducks, fish, grizzly bears and bighorn sheep to African impalas, Siberian tigers and lions...the overall presentation was breathtaking. The backdrops of each animal vignette incorporated the faux skin patterns of all the animals displayed...a presentation of unique talent that was enjoyed by all who attended the fair that year.

In California, her work was exhibited at the Feather River Nature Center, Bank of the West and at "The Duck Stamp" Gallery and Frame Stop Gallery in Sacramento, California. She diligently contributed her time and talent to help in promoting the growth potential of the Northern California community where she was born. Activities and community events throughout the Butte County area kept Teri busy when she wasn't attending school. The St. Thomas Octoberfest, Annual Auction Dinner Fund Raising Event "An Evening To Remember" with proceeds raised for the new Catholic perochial high school. Teri designed and produced the presentation for the proposed Northern California Catholic High School. Her watercolor rendering of the new school and grounds depiction was presented to the California Diocese in 1998.

Her involvement in the fall 1998 Feather River Salmon Festival can be found on the walls of the "Bath House" Nature Center. Teri created remarkable fresco murals of spawning salmon throughout the interior and exterior rustic native rock walls of the historic landmark. The authentic backdrop of the murals being actual salmon, jumping the fish ladders on the Feather River...the murals left unfinished when she was stricken with physical inabilities the following spring of 1999. Completing the frescos could never be attempted. The "medical diagnostic" reason why, was many months away...

The Community Art Days event, held in the April springtime of 1999 placed her in charge of "chalk drawing" supervision and instruction to the children at St. Thomas perochial school. This was the last activity she was physically able to participate in.

It was during this event that her physical abilities were challenged and the long journey of discovering why began through the "human pin cushion" from the many specialists she saw during the process that April to August of 1999.

Community activities and committees she participated in were the Chico chapter of the Children's Home Society, the Chico Chamber Of Commerce, the Butte County Chapter of the, Butte County Fly Fishing Assn., and of course the ducks!

In 1998 & this past 1999, she was an honored guest at the DU California state convention, held in South Lake Tahoe. She was also a guest in 1998 and 1999 at the Chico, California annual Sponsor dinner held at the unique Centerville Estate, located in the high foothills of northern California. Her reputation for continued support & dedication to the organization has rewarded her with the admiration of her work and has been embraced by the California state chapters.

UPDATEAugust 1999:

Graduating in May of 1999 with certification in computer publishing technology. Her plans include teaching computer basics as "The Computer Tutor" and web design layout and production to children. This past fall (1999)kind of slipped through her fingers with the unpredictable events of the past year resulting from the August 7, 1999 final diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. There bewing five different types of MS, it would take another year for Teri to know what type of MS she had. Dr. Forner was a Godsend to Teri in giving her the answer to the many years of abnormal physical and mental off and on difficulties she had experienced. Teri relocated to Yakima, Washington shortly after her diagnosis to a cooler climate hoping it would help in coping with the MS. Relocating to the Yakima Valley, Washington area, she has plans to exercise her new computer focus this upcoming summer of 2000.

UPDATE 2001: Teri has become very active as an advocate for the handicapped and was recently asked to become a participant in the Washington State Governor's Committee for the Handicapped by the Washington State National MS Society and COPES national. Known for her advocacy work in the Yakima County area with soapbox in tow, she accepted the position with excitement and gratefullness that perhaps she could help make a difference!

Wonderful results are being found through Copaxone therapy (self injections) that assist in delaying the progressive relapse effects of MS.

The past four years of Teri's life have been, well, beyond the ordinary (she would say beyond "boring"). She would like to express grateful thanks and blessings to everyone who has unselfishly extended unconditional, continued support and compassion through the difficult times.

Her sincere and infectious sense of humor that bestows to her the gift of laughing at herself, is her key to the endurance she has needed to get through it all so far. She bestows a unique "courage" that she has learned and earned throughout her lifetime.

Finally understanding why she was unable to feel the passion she once did when producing her pointilism (small dots) images only moved her to find another venue to create and express her talents. She has done this through the production of "Reel Art" fine art painted furnishings. Less demanding is the technique she applies to her new creations which enables her to put the brush down instead of a fine point pen! Her vision impaired from the MS, working on a much larger scale with a forgiving technique of acrylic and custom stain washes, she is going to town with this new venture!

The "Reel Art"hand painted frames and fine art furnishing line was introduced and warmly received through a private Yakima home estate gallery showing December 1999.
