My aim this year is to trace my late Great-Uncle Walter Ireland Martyn-Clark,(Medical Practioner)  he had a daughter Daphne - she would be in her early 80’s now. When he married in 1911 in Edinburgh to Mary A. Kendall, he was practising in Searsdale, Cleckheaton, Yorkshire.

A little bit of background!

  • My full name is Jolyon Ellis Martyn-Clark, I was born in Ruislip in Middlesex in June 1950, My father was called Andrew Charles Henry Martyn-Clark. My mother was called Irene Patricia Martyn-Clark (nee Lomax.)
  • My wife's name is Diana Ruth Mills, her father was a Sussex man, Raymond Basil Mills and her mother is Ruth Else Mills (nee Schober) Her family come from Buckeburg, Lemgo and Barntrup in West (was!) Germany. Very little of this side of the family I know about. I have now obtained some more information from the East German side of the family and information can be obtained from the e-mail addresses below.
  • My maternal Grandfather was called Thomas Lomax, a borough surveyor in Tottington, West Hartlepool and Rhyl. He finished his career in Rhyl and was responsible for the comissioning of the sea wall there. There is a plaque to commerate this. His wife was Jane Dunn(e. She was always known as Jenny Dunne in the village of Tottington until the day she died!
  • She was a music teacher, tennis player and a golfer. She lived in Tottington all her life.
  • My paternal Grandfather was called Robert Eric Noel Martyn-Clark. He was a doctor and died in South Wales U.K. before I was born. He was born on Christmas day and he also died on Christmas day in Treherbert, South Wales. He had a brother Walter Ireland Martyn-Clark. His father was Henry Martyn-Clark from the Punjab. He was the first Martyn-Clark. His father was Robert Clark.
  • My paternal Grandmother was Ethel Maud Rodgers. She was one of several brothers and sisters. She was born in Amritsar, and died in Truro. I stayed with her 2 sisters in St Agnes in Cornwall when I was a nipper. (1950's!)
