Nepal
In November of 1998, we traveled to Nepal
to trek in the Himalayas. The itinerary was three days in Kathmandu,
seven days trekking, one day in Pokhara, and then overnight in Bangkok,
Thailand on our way home. The flights (San Francisco to Los Angeles;
Los Angeles to Osaka, Japan; Osaka to Bangkok; Bangkok to Kathmandu lasted
over 19 hours. After three days recovering from the flights we flew
from Kathmandu to Pokhara, in the Himalayan foothills to begin our trek.
Along our route, we ventured through many villages: Dhaupus, Landrung,
Ghandrung, Tadapani, Ghorepani, Banthati, Uleri, Tirhedhunga and finished
in Birethanti. We saw many peaks, among the more famous ones: Annapurna
I, (8th highest mountain in the world, 8,091 meters) II, III, IV, and South,
Machupuchare ("Fish Tail Mountain), and Dhaulagiri (4th highest mountain
in the world, 8,167 meters). I will never be able to put on this
page what remains in my heart after this trip, but I will scan some more
memorable pic's, so you can get a flavor of what I experienced. If
you have been to nepal, I would love to hear from you. E-mail
me!
