A Brief History of and Basic Info on the 1521 Sportsmen Association
- Founded on January, 1998 in Teaneck, New Jersey.
- Comprised mainly of Filipinos and Americans of Filipino ancestry, and currently numbering approximately 60 active members representing a wide spectrum of American society. Among its members are doctors, lawyers, bankers, economists, businessmen, white and blue collar workers, IT professionals, allied medical workers, armed forces personnel, etc. Among its ranks are NRA certified pistol instructors, shotgun instructors and range officers.
- Registered as a not-for-profit organization with the State of New Jersey and affiliated with the National Rifle Association (NRA).
- Commenced its program of competitions starting with its shotgun competitions in August 1999, centerfire pistol in September 1999, centerfire rifle in April 2000, Silhouette competition in August 2000 and 3-D Archery in November 2000..
- Affiliated with the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC) in April 2000.
- Cooperated with the 10th Cavalry Division Gun Club of New Jersey in the Minorities' Day at the Range event held at the ANJRPC's Cherry Ridge Range in May 2000. The Minorities' Day at the Range event aims to introduce new shooters from various minority groups to shooting.

- encourages the adoption of generally accepted principles, policies, procedures as well as compliance with rules and regulations that support wildlife and environmental conversation affecting the future of the hunting, fishing and other outdoor sports
- supports actively all initiatives and efforts aimed at protecting 2nd Amendment Rights - the right to keep and bear arms (RKBA)
- encourages familiarity with the legal and political issues relating to firearms ownership and use
- encourages support for pro-gun lobby groups and also for pro-gun candidates in the face of increasing politicalization of the pro vs anti gun control issue

- International Defense Pistol Association
- The International Defense Pistol Association defines defensive pistol shooting as a sport and is quite simply the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated "real world" self-defense scenarios. Shooters competing in Defensive Pistol events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use. No "competition only" equipment is permitted in Defensive Pistol matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of an individual, not his or her equipment or gamesmanship.
