Lanzarote, Christmas 2008
Just had a great walking holiday in Lanzarote over Christmas. Sun every day, around 20 degrees. A different walk each day. Stayed in Arrecife at the Gran Hotel, good place - Arrecife is a working town, at the centre of the island's bus network, so it was easy to get to the walks.
Spent most of this year's free time walking, either on holiday (Lake District, Whitby and Sicily, Italy) or on the weekends (South Downs, Stonehenge).
Barbican, March 2007
Bought a flat in the Barbican last year. Went to Mallorca - Porto de Soller in October, Rome in November, and to La Gomera in the Canary Islands for Christmas 2006.
Malta, Madeira and Switzerland
Recent holiday snaps are at http://flickr.com/photos/paul_stephenson. Went to Switzerland, September 2005 visiting Meirengen, Grindelwald and Zermatt. Christmas 2005 was in Madeira again, doing walks out to San Lorenco Point and various Levada walks. Visited Malta in April 2006 having some glorious weather, staying in Sliema, next to Valletta, doing various walks around Rabat, then spending 4 days in Gozo - a sleepier small island just to the north of Malta, far better for walking.
Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Christmas 2004
Christmas on Tenerife, on the wet northern coast in Puerto de la Cruz.
Some great walks, including spending Christmas day up the Volcano at 2000m, and walking
through incredibly damp, lichen covered forests.
Alghero, Sardinia, Italy, October 2004
Six days in mid October in this pleasant town, a mixture of Old Town,
Harbour and great beaches. Some good nature walks out near Porto Conte and Capo Caccia,
and some great days out to the stunning old town of Sassari and the hikers town of Bosa.
Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, June 2004
Spent a week in Sorrento, by Naples, south of Rome.
A really packed week, walking around the Amalfi Coast, heading out to Capri
and seeing Pompeii.
