1945 WILLY'S JEEP
CHECK OUT EBAY ONLINE AUCTION FOR A CHANCE AT THIS JEEP!!
The last known military assignment was on Kodiac Island, probably an United States Air Force base. Since the war in Europe ended May 8, 1945, it is most likely this vehicle was directed at the invasion of Japan. It may have been shipped to a concentration point in the Pacific for that purpose. I don't know how to track the military route this Jeep took. For your information, this jeep was manufactured sometime between March 10th and June 14th, 1945.Colin Stevens has given us information on another number on the Willys jeeps. It is the body tub number. Tubs were made by Cord automobiles and had a separate control number. It is stamped on the gusset under the driver's floorboard. The letters are about 1/2 inch high. On a '45 jeep, it is on the front edge and may be visible from above. On a '42 jeep, itis on the lower left side of it and only visible from underneath. Colin is a member of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association.
We welcome comments on the Military Jeeps and are interested in any new information you have to share! Thanks!
