GRAND MESA

"THUNDER MOUNTAIN"

I am just getting moved in, nothing is unpacked yet.
The photos will probably be in the last box to be unpacked.

In the mean time, I'll tell you a little about the legend of the Grand Mesa
and why it is sometimes called "Thunder Mountain", as well as a little about myself.

Grand Mesa is the largest flat topped mountain in the world.
It is located on the western slope of the Continental Divide in Colorado, USA. This mountain was used as one of the trails taking the Ute Indians out of the area in the late 1880's. The Ute's tell a legend about the Grand Mesa and refer to it as "Thunder Mountain". Grand Mesa National Forest encompasses Grand Mesa. The Grand Mesa National and Historic Scenic By-Way traverses the Grand Mesa
on the southern slope from Delta, Colorado to Interstate 70 on the northern slope.

I live on the southern slope of Grand Mesa, just 11 miles from Delta going north
on Colorado Highway 65 which is the By-Way.

My interests are:
