Effective teachers of the Gifted and Talented acknowledge the unique characteristics and backgrounds of the students who enter their classrooms. Each gifted child brings into the classroom a personal conglomerate of experiences, perceptions, ideals, and aspirations. Curriculum must be designed in ways that take into consideration such varieties. One excellent way to accomodate the needs of the Gifted and Talented is through the use of interdisciplinary units of study. The goal of this site is to present precepts and theories guiding the design of interdisciplinary units specifically geared for the Gifted and Talented student, as well as to provide an example of a miniature, completely web-based, interdisciplinary unit of study.
