Kevin Wolff, founder of Wolff Carvers, has endeavored to include in his chess sets all major figures in the great operas Das Rhinegold, by Richard Wagner, and Aida, by Verdi.
Wolff Carvers was established in 1972 by Kevin and Rosemary Wolff, and since then they have been joined by their sons and daughters in the business. Located in Colorado, the company previously specialized in wood carvings, with hiking staffs as the primary product. Opera Chess signals a change in direction for Wolff Carvers. We look forward to introducing our customers to our new line of quality collectibles.
The Das Rhinegold set is metal plated. Each figure of the Wotan group is crafted on a resin core and finished in either nickel-silver or brass. Bronze finish is applied to the Nibelung figures.
The Egyptian side of Aida is finished in simulated sandstone. The Ethiopian grouping is finished with a bronze plate on a resin core.
