Arrangements by Yoon Jae Lee

Bach, J. S. - Concerto Grosso in D Minor for 8 Violins and Basso continuo (based on the Concerto for 2 Violins & Orchestra in D Minor, BWV 1043)

This arrangement of the famous Bach Double Violin Concerto divides the original 2 solo parts into 8 solo parts. Each violin part takes turns playing the solo and when not playing the solo plays the tutti part. Violins 1-3 play the 1st violin solos and tutti while violins 5-7 play the 2nd violin. Violins 4 & 8 play the original viola part when not soloing. Although this self-contaned arrangement is intended for performance as-is, it may be played by 8 solo violins with the original version. It is fully compatible with the original. Great for introducing young violinists to play chamber music with a piece they know very well.

Price: Score $15.00 USD, Set of parts $25.00 USD

Chaminade, Cécile - Scarf Dance Op.37, No. 3 for string orchestra

This charming little salon piece originally composed for piano is great for intermediate level string students. Transposed up from the original key of A Flat Major to A Major.

Price: Full score $10.00 USD, Set of parts (5.5.3.3.2) $40.00 USD

Debussy, Claude - Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune for chamber orchestra

Debussy's well-loved masterwork is now available to be performed by chamber orchestras. In keeping with the original, the textures have been kept light and simple. Slightly larger than Schoenberg's instrumentation, it avoids the use of harmonium, an instrument hard to find in good condition. This arrangement is NOT a simplification. It is the same length as the original and the arrangement pertains the size of the orchestra. It is scored for 1 flute, 1 oboe, 2 clarinets, 1 bassoon, 2 horns, harp, antique cymbals, and strings.

Price: Full score $25.00 USD, performance material (rental only, please inquire for rates)

Mahler, Gustav - Symphony No. 4 in G Major

Mahler's only symphony with "chamber-like" characteristics is a great repertoire addition for chamber orchestras wishing to play late 19th century repertoire. This arrangement differs in concept from Erwin Stein's version. Whereas Erwin Stein's chamber version utilizes single strings and is more of an "ensemble version", my arrangement is made for a string section of a chamber orchestra. This arrangement also has bassoon and horns which the Stein version lacks. Finally, like the Debussy, my arrangement avoids the use of the harmonium. Additional information regarding my arrangement of Mahler Symphony No. 4 can be found here.

Price: Full score $40.00 USD, performance material (rental only, please inquire for rates)

Verdi, Giuseppe - Brindisi from La Traviata for string quartet

The famous drinking song from Verdi's popular opera La Traviata is an all time favorite. This arrangement for string quartet is in the original key of B Flat Major but makes slight modifications to the structure of the original. Can be played by amateurs and professionals alike. Perfect for weddings, parties, or as an encore!

Price: Set of parts $10.00 USD
