Folk Dancing is excellent for pleasurable fitness and a friendly sociable atmosphere. International Folk Dancing is very family oriented. Anyone from 5 to 90+ years of age can (and do!) participate and enjoy themselves.
Canberra is Australia's National Capital, located about 300 km southwest of Sydney and about 100 km inland from the east coast. It is a very beautiful city of approximately 300,000 people, with lots of bush and parks surrounding it and a large lake at its centre. We have a temperate climate with hot summers and frosts in winter. This means lots of blossoms and flowering bulbs in spring and gloriously coloured leaves on the trees in autumn. One of our main festivals is Floriade, which is held during September/October. There are spectacular displays of flowers and lots of accompanying artistic events. Canberra also hosts the National Folk Festival which runs for five days over Easter, every year. Approximately 40,000 people attend.

(Q) Why did God invent Line Dancing?
(A) So the Morris Dancers would have something to laugh at.
