I love traveling to Carribean destinations.
Snorkeling is one of my favorite sports. This is
Shark-Ray Alley, which is one of my favorite
destinations. The real Shark-Ray Alley can be found
off the coast of Belize, Central America. In the
middle of the sea is a place where you can swim with
nurse sharks and southern stingrays. The boat will
rev its motor upon reaching this point, this allows
the sharks to know you are there. At that moment
sharks appear at the top of the water, waiting for
you to come and play. The Dive Masters will start
feeding the sharks as the snorkelers get into the
water. It is amazing to see sharks eat while you are
in the water with them. Feeding does not last long,
then they are ready to play. The nurse sharks are
friendly and will swim right next to you, petting is
allowed riding is not. Before long the southern
stingrays move in, looking like fighter planes. The
stingrays are very graceful, usually staying at the
bottom. When you go to the bottom for a closer look,
they will swim right over the top of you. Thier
bellys feel like marshmallows, thier backs like
leather. They are very friendly and will swim right
next to you, allowing you to pet them. Petting is
very safe, yes it is true they have a stinger located
on thier back, but that is only used for protection.
This is a very safe and educational way to learn more
about our marine life. Sharks are a very important
part of our seas and oceans, without them the balance
of the sea would suffer. There are many shark dives
that take place in the world, all of them safe. I
will hopefully be going on future shark dives and
will keep you updated.
