Jeff Porcaro's equipment (speaks for itself)

To me, there are lots of excellent drummers out there, in the "rock, pop or whatever else-world", but hearing (and sometimes imaging and picturing) Jeff Porcaro playing is way another thing. Oh, man, he's got THE GROOVE!!! I've never heard (and probably will never hear) anything like this. Yes, I've listened to Bernard Purdie on "Babylon sisters" or "Home at last" (which is a killer by himself!), but I missed the sneaky feeling Jeff Porcaro could deliver. I'm tired of speaking how Rosanna, or Pamela, or Mama represent the Jeff Porcaro's shuffle: anyone can agree with me. To me that's not the point.

I can't explain to myself what makes Jeff so magical, but certainly one thing I know: only him was touched by that, whatever it could be. You could call it God, Magic or something else. He was talented.

Some time ago, it happened to me to watch a special dedicated to Jeff on an italian local tv. Jeff was currently playing on an album by Ricky Gianco, a famous italian singer. Before that time, I really haven't seen anything informal about Jeff; I've only seen his didactic video. Well, after the tape rolled to the end, I felt a sense of something like "Man, what kind of musicians we loose". He was first a gentleman, secon a genius and third an altruist. He had almost no ego, in the sense that he considered him equal to the other musicians. All this story bring to my mind what Adam Nussbaum once said: "God is first, music is second, I'm third".

I wrote this page to honor the memory of one of the most influential, musical, grooving and genuine drummer of our time, of all time...

I know that dowloading all this pictures can take sometime, especially using a low-bandwidth connection, such as 14.400 bps. Later I will implement frames, so to reduce the on-line charges for downloading and surfing through the sub-pages.
