L.A's St. Elmo Village is, in the words of founder and resident artist Rozzell Sykes, "a grouping of ten old, shabby shacks. This place used to be the biggest garbage dump around. But my wife, Erna, and my nephew, Roderick, and I- we're all artists- decided to put some pride into the place.
"We scrubbed everything in sight, then we painted all the houses, even the sidewalks became step-along abstarcts. Now this is the brightest spot in the area."
The Sykeses then began to invite neighborhood children to join in their efforts and learn about arts and crafts. The Village became progressively brighter as more and more kids came and got involved. At this point, people began hearing about the project and lending their assistance. A group of Los Angeles businessmen sponsored a fun-raising event for St. Elmo, hosted by Billy Preston.
As a project, many of the aspiring artists painted portraits of Billy, and he was so impressed by the style and spirit of the paintings that he decided to include as many of them as he could in this album.
All of the pictures on the back and sleeve of "The Kids & Me" are St. Elmo artwork and the fee normally paid to a cover designer will be donated to St. Elmo Village - in the form of paint.
If you'd like to contribute money for art supplies to the children of St. Elmo, mail your contribution to: St. Elmo Village Fund, C/o Billy Preston

45: Interview with Billy Preston/Interview with Gino Vanelli
This is a rare 7" single. It was put out by the Presbyterian church in 1982 and sent to selected radio stations to promote positive Christian Attitudes in the Youth of that day. This record includes interviews with the artists and snippets of their music. These are very rare-in many cases very amusing and very collectible.
