Built 1924-25, our school has been known as MS 80. Mr. George J. Ryan was the President of the Board of Education, and Mr. Herbert A. Knox was the Chairman of the XXIII District.
Today the school belongs in the District 10. Is a 6-8 grade school with over 1,200 students.
According to ethnicity and gender 9.% are white, 19.% black,63.% Spanish, 8.% Asian and others, 52.% are female and 47.% male.
Special Academic Programs include: Honors programs in community service, environmental studies, Hispanic culture & journalism, a gifted and talented program in art, music, dance & drama.
Extracurricular activities include: Debate, newspaper & computer clubs, basketball, softball & volleyball teams, a formal peer mediation program, Big Brother/ Big Sister program, and Los Cumbancheros.
Parental support for School. Parents are members of the school based management (SBM/SDM) team and school safety committee. Communicate with families through Parents Association meetings and workshops. Parent assist with safety & after school activities (student goverment dances, community clean-ups, trips, and talent festivals).
School support for Parents: Parent's room, Parent workshops in parenting skills,reading, math, and interpretation of citywide and state exam results.
Community Support. We had partnerships with Mosholu Preservation Corporation, Mosholu Woodlawn South Community Coalition, and NW Bronx Community & Clergy Coalition.
