ENGLAND, August 1 (Rooters) : It's Up For Grabs Now, the vaguely successful British-based football Internet magazine, has left the giant American ISP Geocities to join home-based BT Internet in a free transfer. IUFGN, as only its editor calls it, has been a mild success since making its Internet debut in August 1998, including positive write-ups in the Irish Times, FourFourTwo, the Independent and When Saturday Comes, as well as Italian and Swedish publications.
Speaking at today's press conference, IUFGN chairman Alan Smithee told of his sadness at leaving Geocities. "We have recieved nothing but goodwill, despite those bloody pop-ups, during our three years at the ISP that first granted us space to launch our singular vision of how a football website should look, and of course we're sad to leave after all this time, but we feel BT Internet can provide us with a new challenge, not to mention no adverts and faster access times. And less characters in an easier to remember URL." Smithee later went on to deny that he had ever played for Leeds or Arsenal, managed Crystal Palace, or acted as team physio for the England squad.
