Southampton is in the County of Hampshire, (20 miles W of Portsmouth, 70 miles S.W. of London)
There is a lot of history attached to Southampton docks, and as the major trading port, on the South Coast of England, it is also the home port of the "QE2".
The Pilgrim Fathers left on "The Mayflower" for America and the "Titanic" began it`s fated maiden voyage from here.
It is the start and finish of "The Round The World Yacht Race", and for centuries it has seen armies leave its shores, from the small forces of Henry V marching to Agincourt, to the millions of men who passed through, on their way to the trenches of the first and second world wars.
Southampton is home to "Hampshire Cricket Club" and "The Saints Football" team, it is also where the legendary "Spitfire"aeroplane was built.
