WHO AM I?
My name is Anthony Derrick Burns. I was born on Thursday 25th February, 19sixtysomething (add this to your diary), in a terrace house in the suburbs of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. That’s right, I was not born in a hospital like many others I feel that is why I am such a homebody. I am my mother’s fourth child and her first son. My parents were both born in Jamaica in the West Indies. They came to England in 1959, like many other Afro-Caribbeans, to seek work and a better life style. I am very conscious of my Jamaican heritage, because I strongly believe that before one knows where they are going in life they must first be aware of where they are coming from. I consider myself a very conscientious Black Person with a happy-go-lucky/can-do attitude.
I live with my partner, Carole, and together we have three beautiful children: sons Javaun and Jahniaah who are aged 12 and 9 respectively, and my little princess Jalisha who is eight. They are the most precious thing to me in this life. Click here to see a family photo.
WHAT I DO
For the last six years, I have been involved in the security industry. My company, Combined Infinity Group, specialises in the supply and installation of electronic security systems for the commercial and domestic market. I am also heavily involved in the supervision of security personnel for public events (crowd control). In addition, I provide manned security training for a variety of commercial enterprises in the West Midlands. I also provide a fully comprehensive keyholding alarm response service.
HOBBIES/INTEREST
My Hobbies/Interests are surfing the Internet and general computer enjoyment. I spend a lot of
time playing with my radio remote-controlled cars of which I now own three (3). As I am also a
photographer in my spare time I love to take photographs. I read a general selection of books mainly pertaining to Self-Development and Black issues. Most books I read are recommended by friends and associates so if you
can recommend anything good feel free to drop me an e-mail. I used to play Squash but since my squash
partner moved to London I have not been on a squash court. ( I know what you are saying/thinking!!
"What a lame excuse") but that is the truth.
I am a big fan of Sky News, CNN, and News at Ten. I am not
fanatic about the news reader Trevor McDonald like my homie Tinho, but yep I do get a kick out of
watching a Black Person reading the news it just seems to be Bombastic ! (No Offence Tended to the
White Folks).
Apart from the news I enjoy a good movie now and then, or specific documentaries and
wild life programs. I also maintain a wicked Hi Fi System with a bass line to evict any disliked neighbour.
Any Hi Fi enthusiast out there in web land that wants to discuss Hi Fi Systems " Just Come On Down". -
MUSIC
I like to listen to R & B, but it must be said that I am a reggae fan by heart. My favourite reggae UK artist is The Queen Of Reggae, Sylvia Tella, who is also known on the reggae scene as the female version of Garnet Silk. I am also a admirer of artists like Frankie Paul, Alton Ellis, The Investigators, Beres Hammond, Luciano, Nereus Joseph, Don Campbell, Dennis Brown, Freddie Mcgregor and Sanchez. You can say I am a bit of what is called an old-timer. That does not stop me when it comes to the hardcore artists like Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Sizzla, Capleton, and Spragga Benz.
