Join The Bryce WebRing

IMPORTANT: Remember even if you copy the picture, the Ring won't work unless you've been added.
1. Because many people are unfamiliar with
html, here is what to do and what NOT to do when you join the ring. Do NOT end your
site url with a / or with .html, there being a good reason for this. The ring is
configured so that the byrce.jpg will be set to your url. Example: My homepage for
this site is technically listed at geocities as being: /SoHo/Gallery/2780/index.html
This is because geocities requires the first page of my site to be labeled index.html.
HOWEVER, the index.html is clearly understood to be there when the browser takes me
to the site. Thus, if I were to enter my site above as being: /SoHo/Gallery/2780/index.html
then the bryce.jpg would be affixed to the end of that url and i would get an incorrect
html code as being: /SoHo/Gallery/2780/index.html/bryce.jpg
This is clearly an error and would have to be corrected. The same holds true if I
were to put a / at the end of my url. The proper way to list my url above would be:
/SoHo/Gallery/2780
The bryce.jpg would be correctly listed as http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Gallery/2780/bryce.jpg
2. When copying and pasting the ring code from the email to your html editor, copy and paste it EXACTLY as in the email. That is, the words of each line should start and stop at the beginning and ending of each line. To do this properly, reduce the size of your font size in your html editor and turn off the text wrap around. This will allow each line of the code to be EXACTLY as shown in the email. The ring is correctly configured in the email with your site id#, your email address and your site address. The ONLY exception to this rule is that because different sites have different colored backgrounds, the text in the email is defaulted to be black text. So if you have a black background, the black text will not show up too well. Simple insert the text into the html editor EXACTLY as shown, THEN review, and if the text is black against a black background, change the color of the text.
3. Why have I made 1 and 2 above? Because these mistakes are done 8 times out of 10 by new members.
4. When you join the ring, you will recieve an email telling you that you have been added to queue. At the bottom of the email page you will find the html configured for you automatically. Simply copy and paste the html to your favorite html editor. Dont forget to up the bryce.jpg to your site.
5. Following these steps above will make your joining the ring painless....
Below is an example of how things SHOULD look. The Rings Logo and the Ring layout, can not be changed or re-arranged.
