LAB COAT
Question: What does the image of a lab coat mean to you?
By lab coat i mean the white article of clothing that resembles a sport coat, is worn over other clothes when in a labratory environment, single breated with buttons, and normally has a number of pockets on the outside front.
What are the first three words/emotions that come to mind when you see someone wearing one, or the image of someone wearing one?

In addition, I have recently seen a number of commercials, and in paying attention to them, seen that they use this particular article of clothing to connotate certain things.
For example, the product "Frontline flea and tick" has a commercial currently running on network tv (5-10-99) in which a woman in a lab coat begins by saying: "if you are a vetrenarian..." and goes on about the usefulness of this product. She does not, however, actually say that she is a vet. In viewing the commercial, six out of seven of the people i saw it with said that she was, indeed, a vetrinarian. Why? because she had mentioned the occupation, and she had the uniform on-the lab coat.

Why does this particular article of clothing bring words like trust, doctor, knowledgable, etc. to mind? Why can a man, who walks in off the street, in Montana, enter a gynecologist's examination room wearing one over his street clothes, and be allowed to examine a woman, without her ever having met him before, or having heard of him?
