We don't believe in putting unnecessary bullshit like images and
applets (unless they are necessary). I really hate pages like
microsoft.com, hotbot.com etc which build almost their entire page
using <i>images</i>. <!-- Worst off are pages like those of Pepsi, Coca-Cola
which actually build their entire pages using images and ISMAPs. -->
Yeah, I know newbies will fall flat when they see such crap. But
wasn't content supposed to be raison d'etre of the Web?

<dd>Embedding equations in HTML is painful. We have developed a
Java-based solution to make this task a snap. We have a visual equation editing tool written as a Java application and a viewer applet. We developed this after experiencing
first hand the difficulties we faced while putting equations in a tutorial we
wrote about cloth modeling. <p>
You can download the free package and also read an article by us surveying the current state of equation embedding efforts.

<dd>An article explaining how to generate a pipe in the shape of any curve. Given
a line, you would generate a hollow cylinder and given a circle you would generate

off-line mailer for DOS. It is just a 130 KB download. Two EXEs are all that

<dd>How to do offline mailing in Linux for users with a Unix shell
Internet account. I fit that description and since I couldn't find a
solution I had to make mine. It makes some custom modifications to
/etc/sendmail.cf and then sends external mail using the SMART_HOST
directive to procmail using the Mprocmail mailer. The docs are in
ASCII text. You can <a href="linomail-0.1.tgz">download the
software.</a>

This a glossary of around 500 words which I used while preparing for
my general GRE verbal section. The meanings are taken from the
<a href=http://elza.lpi.ac.ru/cgi-bin/wb>online Webster dictionary.</a> I
will be adding my own meanings shortly which will be more useful if
you are preparing for the GRE yourself.

This is a review that I wrote of the book. I wrote this review for a
course called "Indian Fiction in English" - A Humanities elective
course which I did. All you had to do was give the vaguest possible
explanation for straightforward things, and pick ironies and humour
where none existed. By writing bullshit in all my exams I peacefully
got an A. (ie one grade below the highest that is awarded in our
institute.) The review I wrote was done earnestly. Please give
me your comments on it.

automatically</a>

A small Perl script to automatically add the Geocities banner to the
bottom of your HTML code. As a bonus, it also adds a "Last updated on"
line by using the modification records stored along with the file
name.<p>
Under Unix do something like:<P>

$ for fn in *.html do footer_adder.pl $fn /tmp/upload/$fn; done

<b>The script contains a safeguard. You can't give the same filename
as both input and output.</b><p>

<dt><a href="ng.txt">Modified <tt>newgrp</tt> utility</a>

<tt>newgrp</tt> will only spawn a shell after logging into the new
group. I have my web pages under a gid web to prevent accidental
erasure. Since there is every danger of accidentally doing a
<tt>rm</tt> under the new shell, I modified <tt>newgrp</tt> so that I
can specify another program to run. The syntax is similar to
<tt>su</tt>. So I can do <tt>ng web vi /www/index.html</tt> to edit
the web index safely and <tt>ng web netscape</tt> to browse safely.

Download and compile the program. Remember to suid root it and then cp
into /usr/local/bin.
