Welcome to my home page of sticky adventures

Thanks for dropping by...
On this page I just want to give little bit more details on my trips than what the youtube videos show. So if you're the type that likes to put on your boots and get out in the world to get them bit muddy...
Sit back, grab a cup of tea and enjoy...

21.6.2008 - My first post!
Today I managed to get out with my trusted Nokian wellies. I managed to grab a clip of getting the boots slightly stuck on some wet clay and I posted it on Youtube here.
The boots are not actually the basic Nokian black wellies but winter version of them. The boots are sturdier overall and have removable felt insole as well as insulated sole. This makes them also bit taller then the standard boots. The material is also very flat instead of being shiny and the boots have much better clip for tightening., but the most interesting part is that the outer sole of the boot has a small lip. This can be used for attaching traditonal wooden skis on the boots. (
picure) I feel that this helps to spread the weight when walking on soft ground but I guess it also makes is easier to get stuck.
However, all in all, these boots are really nice and very cool even in the summer. They are just snug enough for them to stay on in stickier situations but still comfortable enough to walk quite long distances.

Few things about the clip itself...
At first it seems that the spot isn't particulary soft. However after a while the clay starts to cling to my boots and pretty soon I can feel that I'm starting to sink bit more with each step. I don't really like to just plunge in but I rather take quite an careful aproach. This spot seemed to be particularly interesting in that at some places it was quite sticky and in others it seemed to be easy to sink pretty deep.
Wearing only my boots I wanted to make sure that I don't get over the tops. However the clay on the left that had previously been bit less deep was also much stickier. I didn't want to get my boots hopelesly stuck so I decided to get out before I got in too deep. You can see at ~7:20 that, at first, I can't move either of my boots. Only after few sharp tugs I can feel my left boot getting out. At the same time I had managed to only sink my right boot further and as the boots had been pretty well stuck previously, I didn't want to take any futher risk.
But (moving)pictures are worth more than thousand words so watch the clip and leave a comment...
