Dedicated to the spirit and art of wildland firefighting.

Hello, my name is Mike Benefield I serve as the Fire Management Officer within an federal wildland fire management organization known as
Utah BLM-Moab Fire Zone

Welcome to my Web Page! It is my hope that this site would be a cyber fire station where wildland firefighters from all agencies, including contractors may stop by, kick their feet up, and discuss the issues which effect us all.

Wildland firefighting in the Eastern Great Basin is as varied as the landscape.

From the alpine forests of the La Sal Mountains to the arid red-rock deserts of the Colorado Plateau, Firefighters from the Moab Fire Zone encounter a wide range of fuel types, topography, climates and fire behavior.
