Suriname, Land Of My Youth

To your left (border) is the Surinamese national flower named "Fajalobi" or "Burning Love".

The national anthem of the Republic of Suriname.

Translation: "Fellow countrymen stand up! The Surinamese soil is calling you. Wherever our ancestors may have come from, we must rebuild our country together. Where there's a battle to be fought, we shall not forsake our duty. God will lead the way. From the day we are born to the day we die, we shall fight for Suriname."

The Surinamese Weapon. It's original and the artistic contemporary forms.

---&---

Suriname is a South American Rain Forest country, bordered on the north by the Caribbean Sea, to the south by Brazil, to the west by British Guyana and to the east by French Guyana.

In December 1960, barely 2 months old, I "Autumn-Ellen" (daughter of Boeginees), emigrated with my family from The Netherlands to Suriname, where we first lived in the district Nickerie and in the capitol city of Paramaribo. Until 1968, when our family emigrated to Florida for 5.5 years. From there on to the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten in 1973 for 1.5 years and back again to Suriname in 1975, where I lived until July 12th 1979. My youngest sister (born in Par'bo) stayed until February 1983 and my parents until November 1st 1985.
