Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have. 1.22.06 We are now living in Hawai'i. How'd that happen? Well, Mike took a job with University of Hawaii-Hilo, and here we are. We were ready to live someplace nice and clean where the kids could easily be in nature. So, here we are. This morning there was snow on Mauna Kea. It was a beautiful clear morning. At the moment, Mike's teaching geography and environmental studies, Barb is teaching media law and ethics, the boys are attending Malamalama Waldorf School. Sadly, we left Manchac, Dibblin and our bird, Paulie, in Baton Rouge -- Manny is in Missouri with our friend Robin. However, Penny the guinea pig made the leap and is in Hawaii. I'll work on my digital technology and start uploading some pictures. I used to be so tech-savvy. 10.22.04 Still in BR and getting ready for Halloween. Truman will be a pirate, Frederick will be a ninja, I think I'll be a pirate, too. I'm teaching three yoga classes a week regularly. Mike launched Bungalow Coffees at Circa 1857 and continues at LSU Press. All is well. The year has absolutely flown for us. Pet population is Dibblin, Manchac, Blackie the new cat and Paulie the new guinea pig. 03.22.04 And, another year has passed. So, we're still in BR. We're living in the Garden District, on Park Boulevard for those who know the city. Barb is at The Advocate editing and Mike is at LSU Press as the geographic/environmental science books acquisitions editor (sort of a long title). I'll try to get some recent pictures up. But, you can trust the boys are growing and cute, cute, cute! 07.13.03 It's been almost a year. We've moved back to Baton Rouge. Frederick and Truman are 2 and 5. All is well. We're feeling a little melancholy because it looks like we'll be selling our house on Peaks. We loved that place. 09.05.02 Summer is leaving. We had a great summer. We played on the beach, visited St. Louis; Holland, Michigan; and the Keys.Mike spent a month in Guatemala. It was a packed summer and we enjoyed every minute of it. Now, classes started this week and the weather is starting to cool. 03.05.02 Spring is in the air. Truman's eating Cheerios on his own. Frederick is suddenly articulating and talking much better. He's had a lot to say for a long time, but now almost anyone can understand him. 02.20.02 Truman is up on his hands and knees. He also pushes himself back so that he's sitting on the floor. It's darn cute. Especially when he gets stuck in the Chinese splits, fortunately he's still rubberband-man, so this doesn't bother him. 02.14.02 Valentine's Day! Sunny but cold. Mike is traveling this week to conferences, etc. Truman is scooting on stomach just about anywhere we will let him and Frederick is going to learn to iceskate this weekend. 1.26.02 Gorgeous day with sunshine and in the 50s. We played on the backshore all afternoon making boats out of broken up lobster buoys and feathers. It was a great day. Mike's in Washington, D.C., at a conference. All is well. 1.22.02The winter semester has started. Truman is trying to crawl. Frederick is painting and gungho about his little school. We've been sledding and having beautiful sunny weather. 12.20.01 Barb celebrated her 35th birthday yesterday. Hooray. Mike made a cake and had to buy two boxes of candles. Frederick said the fire was a "big one." So, it was very merry. We've got the tree up and are now in countdown mode until Santa and the reindeer arrive. This is fun because it's the first year that Frederick has been able to anticipate Christmas. We have a little snow on the ground. This week we had a day where it snowed all day and really put us in the holiday mood.
