To raise funds for our Spay/Neuter program, PALS offers Paw Print Dog Training classes, ID Pet dermaprint tattooing and registration, rentals of humane, live animal traps (for trap rental, call Second Chance Dog Rescue at 912-748-6097). Additionally, PALS conducts fundraising activities such as Dirty Dog Washes during the summer, a Pet Halloween Costume Contest, and Picture Your Pet photo sessions. Of course, PALS also accepts donations.
PALS offers free Humane Education programs to schools, libraries, and other groups. PALS is included in the resource file of the Chatham County Board of Education. We also offer free pet care literature, advice, and information. PALS continues to host a yearly Blessing of Pets, in Troup Square, now being held in October rather than the first week of May.
All of these activities are limited by the manpower available to run them, so volunteers are in constant demand, and of course, and new members are always welcome.
The annual dues enable PALS to maintain its membership in various animal welfare organizations, entitling us to discounts on materials as well as subscriptions to their publications that keep us informed about current animal-related topics. These dues also help PALS with office supplies and general operating expenses. Members receive newsletters as well as notification of special events and activities.
