For those of you who already have a geocities site...Read the Terms of Service carefully before re-registering with Yahoo's version.
Section 8 of Yahoo's! TOS' (terms of service) now reads: "By submitting content to any Yahoo property, you automatically grant, or warrant that the owner of such content has expressly granted, Yahoo the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive and fully sublicensable right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform and display such Content (in whole or part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed."
In case you can't tell, I'm not exactly happy with this. My solution was to hop over to http://www.freeservers.com/ and use their Site Copier function to save my words and my site from Yahoo's TOS. I'm not the only person that isn't happy with this, and you can find further resources below:
Boycott the Content Robbers
Dragonflames offers information on sites that won't rob your content.
Boycott Yahoo
At the Boycott Yahoo Homepage, you will find further information as well as web sites.
I have decided to leave only two things on this site...my guestbook...to show Y!Geocites why their move wasn't a smart one, and my copyright notice...because despite what they think, Yahoo! does not and never will own my words. Thanks for visiting!
