NEC de Colombia S.A.         Nov/2001 – Today

Position: Project Engineer

Role Description: I have the responsibility of identifying business opportunities and promoting solutions that respond to customer and market needs with emphasis in solutions for mobile networks in CDMA/GSM technologies. Responsible of project formulation, construction of business plans, formulating strategies, project evaluation and management for Colombia, Ecuador, and Central America (excl. Mexico) markets. Experience in preparation of commercial presentations and offers for customers in such markets.

Key Achievements:

§         Established three new business lines for NEC de Colombia S.A.

§         Support in the design of the concept, system specifications and project plan for the development of an OSS platform that integrates and unifies management, traffic analysis, alarms and provisioning for NEC telephone exchanges of different generations.

§         Responsible of coordinating the redesign and implementation of a new WEB site for NEC de Colombia S.A.

 

Lucent Technologies.          Jan/2001 – Aug/2001

Position: Bids & Proposals Development Specialist

Role Description: I was in charge of the preparation of commercial offers for customers in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. I managed technical, logistics and business analysis resources during the process of bids and proposals preparation. Responsible of maintaining close communication and giving support to sales department.

Key Achievements:

§         Development and implementation of new procedures to ensure efficient bids and proposals preparation.

§         Reduction of 30% (average) in the time to deliver offers and respond to customer requests.

 

Avantel S.A.               May/2000 – Jan/2001

Position: Dispatch Engineer

Role Description: Avantel is an operator of an IDEN mobile network in Colombia. Avantel´s core platform is a Nortel switch for mobile service (DMS-MTX) and basic functionalities run over GSM software core. I was in charge of National Backbone and Dispatch platform (2 way radio – Push To Talk function). Dispatch platform interconnects with mobile switch and shares resources of mobile network such as BSC, BR, some of HLR/VLR data.

Key Achievements:

§         Planning and implementation of an OSS in-house development to control operation of mobile network, including communication with equipment databases, generation of reports, control of operator’s task assignments, control of the usage of resources and planning of contingency strategies.

§         Reduction of 70% in the downtime of mobile service produced by failures in national backbone, upon the effective design of contingency strategies.

§         Reduction in 66% in the service-in of new BS, with the implementation of semi-automatic procedures for the provisioning of equipment in control, network and management systems.

 

Impsat Fiber Networks.                                                        May/1999 – May/2000

Position:  NOC Engineer

Role Description: I supported the national backbone operation (fiber optics, microwave and satellite networks), giving 1st  and 2nd line support and managing field engineers from network operation center. Responsible of the approval of new links, based in results of commissioning tests, reported by field personnel.

Key Achievements:

§         Planning and implementation of an OSS in-house development to build a record of the history of sites from it’s creation, maintaining control of commissioning tests and results. System included also a database with basic information of sites, such as customer, contact information, geographic location, etc.

 

Nortel Networks.      Jan/1998 – Jun/1998

Position: Switching Engineer (internship)

Role Description I had to elaborate software configuration of new switching exchanges to be installed in Colombia for the Joint Venture project with Telecom. I had to make traffic analysis in installed exchanges, reporting the status of the trunks, based in its maximum capacity and the pattern of real traffic.

Key Achievements:

§         I developed and implemented a software management system for the analysis of traffic, QoS and operational measurements of NORTEL exchanges
