JULITA - a parish in the West Sörmland Region

We know for sure that people have lived in the Julita area for more than 5-6000 years. They arrived here immediate after the end of the last glaciation, in the "Littorina Sea" era - to the "Water-world of Julita".

There are a lot of archeological findings from the Stone Age, the Viking Age and early Middle Age.

The old Cistercian Abbey in Julita - The Saba Abbey (1180-1527) - in 1452 was declared a holy pilgrimage by Rome.

Today, Julita is a well-known center of agricultural history - the National Agricultural Museum is located here at the Julita Estate.

The Julita Estate on the shores of lake Öljaren is a living museum and a very popular tourist resort.

Julita is situated about 150 kms west of Stockholm.
At the map above Stockholm is at the east side and
Julita at the upper west side.
