My Year of Traveling

We've been able to travel a bit. I usually do most of my traveling on the Internet but there's nothing like squishing your clothes into a bag, getting on a plane, and eating airline food. I think everyone should do it just for the experience.

Here are some of the places we visited in the spring and summer of '95.

Lock transporter beam on these co-ordinates:

Very modern, very impressive: The Kansai International Airport in Osaka.

The power of Mother Nature is equaled only by the power of the human spirit. Life goes on in Kobe City.

City of temples, Kyoto.

At night, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei, Taiwan, surrounded by the flashing neon lights of the big city, is eerily tranquil. Neato.

I bought some software in Edmonton. No sales tax, yeah! We also went to the West Edmonton Mall to watch Apollo 13. Get some official info about that flight here.

We spent Canada Day in Banff, complete with fireworks and moose. (or mooses? meese?)

We met former Prime Minister Joe Clark on our way home from Calgary. I spent the whole flight trying to think of something intelligent and interesting to say to him. Maybe about the government or native issues or Bosnia or his life after politics. In the end, all I said was, "You go ahead. We've got bags to get." He was very polite and thanked me. I wonder why he didn't eat all of his lunch.

Toronto. We only visited the airport. I can't stand humidity. (Oh, yeah. I bought a fridge magnet.)

Europe for the weekend: After almost missing our connection in Toronto, we were able to have tea with a sandwich and scones, a quick tour of the city on a double decker, and a musical at King's Theatre in Glasgow. One sleep and we're back home again Sunday night.

Hawaii's Visitors Bureau: The Islands. We try to go every year. If you've been there, you know that grabbing a copy of This Week Magazine is all part of the experience. We've been to Oahu, Kaua'i, and The Big Island. Some of the best places are accessible only with a 4x4 or by hiking. On Kaua'i we also toured with Safari Helicopters.

On our journeys we travelled with Air Canada.

Check out their schedules.
