The Beauty & The Beast!

Hello! My name is Bob and I am a motorcyle addict.
I returned to street riding in May of 1994 (after more than a 20 year layoff) and have since clocked about 278,000 miles. My re-entry was on a new Honda VLX that lasted 3 months and 6000 miles. In 1997, after 50,000 miles on a '93 Honda Shadow 1100, I began a serious search for a bike that could better handle the mileage. I researched and tested Hondas, Harleys, Kawasakis, Suzukis, and Yamahas. I finally chose the F6 Valkyrie from Honda. It was a perfect choice until in the fall of 2003 at about 113,000 miles, a teen in a cage determined it was time to retire the bike. Yep, I had 10 feet to miss her. I didn't. I recovered. The Valk didn't.
Since Honda (in its infinite wisdom) decided to stop making the Valk (I don't consider the Rune a Valkyrie), I decided to go over to the dark side. Yep. I bought a Harley. Road King, that is. Black gold.
I spent 6 years trying to make the Valk into a Road King. Now I'm trying to make the '04 Road King into a Valk. Hit 100,000 miles in less time than it took on the Valk (3 yrs 8 months - but who counted). Still going strong after 108,000 miles. I guess I've been successful. See below for customization to date.
Changes to the Road King:
(1) Screamin' Eagle Stage II upgrade (to 95 CI) (H-D PN# 29872-06). The 203 cams were the biggest bang for the buck. I plan on the 103CI somewhere down the road;
(2) Screamin' Eagle exhaust (H-D PN#s 65115-98B & 65309-96);
(3) Classic Tour-Pak, Rack & Docking kits (not pictured) (H-D PN#s 53147-98A2, 53107-96, 53104-97A, 53127-96B, 53450-97B);
(4) Saddlebag Liners (H-D PN# 91887-98) which make it easy to load/unload;
(5) "Bar & Shield" Logo Soft Lowers (not pictured) (H-D PN# 58525-95) for winter riding;
(6) Black Slotted Six-Spoke Wheel Front & Rear (H-D PN#s 43921-02 & 43933-02). I like to ride, not clean;
(7) Saddlebag guard bags (H-D PN#s 91220-98 & 91991-98). I definitely have the "Leather & Chrome Disease;
(8) Solo Luggage rack from Drag Specialties (PN# DS-720278) and Detatchable Sissy Bar (not pictured) from H-D) (PN# 52933-97A); ;
(9) Solo seat with backrest and passenger seat from Mustang Seats (PN#s 79102 & 79112). Makes it as comfortable as your favorite chair;
(10) I've also replaced the WWW tires with blackwalls (for the same reason I got rid of the spokes);
(11) Combination Speedometer/Tachometer (H-D PN# 74549-04). I just had to know the RPMs;
(12) Screamin Eagle 6-Speed Transmission (H-D PN# 33101-03A). I love it! It makes cruising at 65-70 like 55-60 in fifth;
(13) the Wizard light kit from Glow Ride. I can switch between seven colors;
(14) a clock that fastens to the low end of the tank from Marlin Clocks; and
(15) locks for the saddlebags. Now I don't have to empty the bags when I stop for the night.
Changes to the Valk:
(1) Markland highway bars which I highly recommend (through Niehaus Cycle);
(2) a luggage rack and sissy bar from ValkyrieThings;
(3) 2" drag pipes (6 into 6) from Cobra. (It didn't take me long to remove the baffles - I like loud.) To date, I have not been forced to re-jet. The fuel mixture was adjusted (I don't really notice any difference in performance);
(4) heat sheilds from Rivco to cover the blueing;
(5) driving lights from Rivco.
(6) leather saddlebags from Hondaline;
(7) windshield from Hondaline (for the winter and long trips); and
(8) air foils from Baker (for winter riding).
If you have a ride to recommend this side of the Mississippi (I live on the eastern side of PA), please e-mail details to me.
From this site you will not only find pictures of my loves and joys (beware they may take a while to download), but also some links to other pages I have found interesting.
